The Science of Less Hunger
Origins of Celebrate Chocolate and Energy Gems
(Although we would love you to read every word of this article, if you would like the short

"Celebrate the Science of Less Hunger." Yet, details are important, and can be fun, so keeping reading here.)
When you think about a commercial food product, you usually don't think about how or
why it was created. You just eat and enjoy.
In the case of a chocolate product, you would probably assume the originators of it
started out with the idea for a luscious chocolate recipe that "melts in your mouth."
In the case of Celebrate Chocolate Truffles, your suppositions about its origins would be
wrong. At Celebrate, we started with researching the science almost 15 years ago.
The Common Cause of Obesity,
Heart Disease, Hypertension, and Diabetes
Back then, 15 years ago, we were driven on a quest to understand the causes of weight gain. We
searched the University Medical School Research Library for the clues. We ended up
finding a whole lot more.
We discovered that not only were overweight and obesity linked, which we expected,
we also found out the cause of them was also the root underlying cause of heart
disease, hypertension, and diabetes. We knew these "metabolic disorders" were all
somehow linked, but we didn't know they shared the same basic cause. We were amazed.
The Metabolic Iceberg: The four major metabolic disorders are tips of an iceberg. The
iceberg itself, the common underlying cause, is excess weight, caused by insulin
resistance. By shrinking the submerged base of the iceberg, all the other "symptoms" (the
four metabolic disorders shown above as the tips of the iceberg) shrink also. The key
point here is that right kind of diet, plus exercise, can shrink the iceberg healthily.
Since that landmark research, we have developed a number of weight control and
healthy supplement products for a wide variety of companies. There is a good chance
you have tasted, or swallowed, one of our numerous nutritional designs over the years.
But our attention is clearly focused on the constant march, the steady advance of the
science of weight control (we update it daily). We had learned that if you find a
healthy way to lose weight, your blood pressure decreases, your blood sugar
gets under control, and you lower your risk for heart disease. Trouble was, no one
was selling an all-inclusive remedy - at least not one based on science.
In fact, as you may have noticed, many of the weight control products and programs on
the market are short term weight-losers followed by long-term weight gains. Or worse.
Many were "magical" herbs or drugs that turned out to be dangerous to your body.
Losing Weight = Losing Your Life?
You may remember the deadly Phen-Fen debacle a decade ago. It was highly pushed
by the medical community as the medical answer to weight loss. Some of the big,
commercial weight loss companies got on that bandwagon. Turns out that this
combination of drugs (an "upper" for depressed people, and a "downer" for hyper
people) induced some minor weight loss, but it caused major heart valve problems for
tens of thousands (open heart surgery anyone?). Plus, for a large number of people it
caused "primary pulmonary hypertension" which meant you had to have a lung
transplant to continue breathing (no kidding - you can't make this type of stuff up).
All these customers wanted to do was lose weight and ended up sacrificing their life -
much to the shock of the medical community, which retreated to having no solution.
A Weight Loss Education Program
So, while the diet industry was back to square one after the Phen-Fen debacle, our
team had developed a weight control program that was strictly an education program.
It was based on the solid medical science we had painstakingly uncovered. We tested it
in a major hospital with amazing results. That program is called ScaleDown for Life.
It is the only science-based educational program for weight loss that is designed to
affect the other metabolic disorders noted above. It is taught in hospitals and clinics,
and we will soon have it available online for download here.
ScaleDown for Life: To help you learn how to lose weight safely, and keep it off permanently,
ScaleDown has 12 weekly lessons, over 50 recipes, a weight loss exercise program,
and a bonus class about kids' diets. And much more.
Getting Elementary Kids Physically Active
Then we turned our attention to kids. As you know there is a childhood obesity epidemic
that is affecting a major and rapidly growing percentage of our children. In fact, adult
onset diabetes is the fastest growing childhood disease in America.
In-Class Physical Activity
If you will go to www.GoZonkers.tv you will see the nutrition education and physical
activity program we developed for elementary schools. An in-class, at-desk exercise
program, these downloaded radio adventures double the amount of daily vigorous
activity for most of the kids using it.
But we couldn't stop there.
GoZonkers Radio Adventures: Mundy, Chen-Li, Sierra, and LaShay, are characters that get
kids vigorously active at-desk in thousands of classrooms nationally when they "get moving"
daily with GoZonkers Radio Adventures. New episodes four days a week, each 7-9 minute
segment has a warm-up, stretching, cardio, jumping (to build strong bones), and a cool-down.
Kids learn key nutritional concepts during the exercises. It's loads of fun, and teachers love it
too. GoZonkers has always been free to schools.
EarlySport is the official P.E. Program for a number of school districts nationally. It includes:
- Cardiovascular endurance, strength, agility, and spatial sense
- Eye-hand coordination
- Large- and small-ball handling skills
- Skills required for transition to sports
- Teamwork, and cooperation
- Sportsmanship, respect for rules and officials
EarlySport: A P.E. Program, for non-P.E. Elementary school teachers. Fully validated and proven to reduce
metabolic disease risk factors by a clinical study. With extensive games, stretches, warm-ups, skill building, and
fitness self-evaluation system. It includes: An Emphasis on Participation, Teaching Success and Personal
Mastery, Safety Skills Development, Physical Skill Development, and a Code of Personal Responsibility.
Physically Active Kids Article: This research summarizes the dramatic connection between
improved academic performance of elementary school children, elevated heart rates, measurable
physical activity in schools, and reduced obesity and risk of Early Chronic Diseases (ECD). The
data is clear: Getting kids active improves both their grades and their health.
Elementary P. E. Program
Clearly, more was needed to help kids. You may have noticed that physical education is extinct in
our elementary schools. With "No Child Left Behind" emphasizing grades over body
development (as if they were not connected), schools pulled the P.E. teachers out. Many even
canceled recess. The predictable result was "Every Child Left on Their Behind."
So, our team created EarlySport: Every Child a Champion. It is a P.E. Program to be used by
non-PE classroom teachers. It is the third highest selling PE program in the
country. Alas, with schools strapped for cash these days, most kids are still
being left on their behinds at school.
To demonstrate the value of EarlySport's approach to elementary P.E., a research study was
done on 3rd and 6th graders. The study used heart rate monitors, before/after blood
tests, and test and control groups. The result: In the only study of its kind ever done,
EarlySport is the only elementary PE program PROVEN to reduce the risk factors for diabetes,
heart disease, and obesity in children.
You can find more about EarlySport here:

You can also read the report on the study that proved the significant impact of the
EarlySport program on the reduction of metabolic risk factors in elementary children here:

This is a great report you ought to read. It is full of illustrations. You can see
a full annotated, online version of it at the website address immediately above.
Physically Active Kids Get Better Grades
We also decided to delve into the science to prove to school administrators and
parents the importance of physical education to a child's academic and mental
development. Our team researched and wrote a white paper that documented the
peer-reviewed research showing that physically active kids read better, perform
better on math tests, behave better in class, and have higher self esteem.

Improve Grades, Stop Obesity, Reduce Risk of Early Chronic Disease," and download a copy, here:

The Origins of the Science of Less Hunger
In the beginning of our quest to learn more about the causes of weight gain we were
confounded by the complex language of medical research. Worse, nearly all medical
research is about how one small part of the body reacts when something happens to it.
Surprisingly, there was very little we could find about how the whole body
functions together when you eat or exercise.
To educate ourselves, we created a metabolic map of our findings. As we first developed it,
it resembled a mosaic, with widely disconnected parts. But, after three years of intensive
literature research, as the map filled in, we were finally able to see how the entire body
reacts to certain diets and exercise. It was the first (and is still the only) metabolic map of its kind.
We have been updating it with all the current research daily for over 12 years.
The Metabolic Cycle: Based on intensive medical literature research for 15 years,
this map is updated daily with the latest research findings. It reveals how eating
certain ways can have immediate and lasting effects on a number of the body's
systems. It also shows, how, over time, persistently eating in certain ways can lead
not only to overweight and obesity, but to a large number of metabolic-related
diseases. These include: Obesity, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, gout, irritable
bowel syndrome, and some forms of cancer, to name a few.
Using the Metabolic Map of the Body
"The Metabolic Cycle" map, part of which is shown above, is seemingly complex.
However, it clearly shows the relationship between what you eat and what it does to the
various systems of your body. It shows how things can go wrong to create metabolic
disorders like diabetes and excess weight gain.
Most importantly, this map reveals intervention leverage points. Simply put, it shows
how changes in what and when you eat can have a powerful, positive effect on your
weight, and the other metabolic risk factors at the same time.
Taking full advantage of The Metabolic Cycle map lead our team to develop
ScaleDown for Life, as mentioned above.
ScaleDown for Life is a weight control education program.
The Science of Less Hunger: ScaleDown is based on the lessons learned from
The Metabolic Cycle map, shown above. In turn, all Celebrate products are based
on that map, and the principles taught in ScaleDown.
The fun, innovative ScaleDown education program is based on peer-reviewed literature
because that insured the ideas weren't just somebody's opinion. Peer review meant that
anything published in these medical journals had already been extensively reviewed by
a team of medical experts BEFORE it could be published.
ScaleDown for Life is the only commercially available weight loss education program
based on peer-reviewed medical research. We tested it in a major hospital with 30
critically overweight people. It not only worked. It had incredible results.
The average person in the study lost over 30 pounds in the 12 weeks of the program.
We have made this program available to hospitals and clinics, where customers pay
$279.00 for the 12 week in-classroom program (we have since made this into a 16 week
program, to get even better long-term results).
ScaleDown teaches how to eat healthy, while you lose weight naturally, and learn
to keep it off permanently. Based directly on the Metabolic Cycle map, the lessons are
designed to take into account the rational, social, and emotional context that face those
who are trying to lose weight - especially those who are trying to lose a lot of weight.
An online version of ScaleDown is now available from this website. Learn more about the ScaleDown For Life Permanent Weight Loss Education program, here.

Celebrate the Science of Less Hunger
After years of designing supplements and nutritional products for clients, about three years ago we
decided to create our own products.
We endeavored to pour into a family of products all we had learned in the last 15 years about the
science of metabolic control, controlling appetite, and cutting cravings.
We realized that to really make a difference in people's bodies, we had to make food products, not supplements.
They had to be based on whole foods, not suspect extracts and scientifically unsupported ingredients.
Our new products had to be delicious. Customers have come to accept that if a nutritional product tastes bad,
or "off", that it's OK, because it was for your health. Phooey. If it's for your health it ought to taste so good
you can't wait to eat it - not cringe just before you gulp it down.
Our food design motto: "We make nutritious delicious."
And all of our products had to be based on science. Thus every product we produced must be:
- Made of the finest quality ingredients, without regard to price
- Low glycemic
- Full of fiber, or pre-digested fiber
- Whole foods-based
- An excellent source of omega 3/DHA
- Full of anti-oxidants
- 100% all natural
- Non-GMO
- Organic, sustainable, and free trade, as much as available
- Pre- or probiotic
- No preservatives, artificial flavors, or colors
- Deliciously nutritious - every ounce, every bite
When you bite into a Celebrate product, you are savoring uniqueness. No other products are made this way.
Based on science, they deliciously perform as advertised.
If you are looking for a way to truly satisfy your hunger, and cut your cravings we
made Celebrate Chocolate Truffles, and Cocoa Covered Almonds for you. They are
deliciously healthy foods to help you eat less. And when you eat less, then...
